Pornhub Blocked in Your State?
25 States. One Supreme Court Ruling. Here's the Full Picture.
The Supreme Court said yes. 25 states passed laws. Pornhub pulled out of all of them. Traffic dropped 80% in Louisiana. VPN usage exploded. And the sites that stayed? Nobody checked what they're doing with the data they're collecting at the door.
The Timeline
Louisiana went first. January 2023. HB 142 required adult sites to verify users are 18+ with a government ID. Pornhub complied. Traffic from Louisiana dropped 80%.
Then Texas. Then Utah, Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas. By mid-2024, a dozen states had passed laws. But everything was on hold — the First Amendment question hadn't been answered. Could a state actually force you to show ID to look at legal content?
June 27, 2025. Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton. The Supreme Court answered: yes, 6-3. Texas's law is constitutional. Age verification requirements don't violate the First Amendment.
That's when things accelerated. States that had been waiting for the ruling fast-tracked their bills. South Dakota, Wyoming, Georgia, North Dakota, Arizona, Ohio, Missouri — all passed and enacted laws within months. By November 2025, 25 states were active.
Pornhub's response was the same everywhere: block access entirely. No age verification option. No workaround. A wall. Their argument — age verification as implemented is "ineffective, haphazard, and dangerous." Their preferred alternative: device-level verification through operating systems, not site-by-site ID checks.
The one exception is Louisiana, where the AllpassTrust/LA Wallet system lets users verify without handing their ID directly to the site. Pornhub remains accessible there.

What Still Works in Blocked States
The Aylo block covers Pornhub, RedTube, YouPorn, Tube8, and Brazzers. That's a lot of traffic — but it's not the entire internet.
Most cam sites remain accessible. Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda, MyFreeCams, BongaCams — they're either complying with verification requirements where mandated or operating in a compliance gray area depending on the state. Creator platforms like OnlyFans and Fansly continue operating because they already verify creators and handle billing through existing ID infrastructure.
Other tube sites — XNXX, XVideos, xHamster, SpankBang, ePorner — have varying approaches by state. Some comply with verification. Some are accessible without checks in states where enforcement hasn't caught up yet.
The gap between what's "blocked" and what's "not yet enforced" is the thing nobody talks about. And even in states where sites comply — what are they doing with your data once you've verified? We scanned every major site with Blacklight. The results vary wildly.
The VPN Option
A VPN routes your connection through a server in a state without age verification laws — or another country entirely. The site sees an IP from an unrestricted location, the block never triggers, and you don't upload your driver's license to a porn site.
Legal? Yes. No US state has criminalized VPN use to access legal content. Age verification laws target websites, not users. Adults using a VPN are exercising a privacy tool, not breaking a law.
Don't use a free VPN. Same reason as always — free VPNs log your traffic and sell it. The whole point is privacy. A free VPN just replaces the state government with a company in a jurisdiction you've never heard of.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which states is Pornhub blocked in?
As of March 2026, Pornhub (Aylo) has blocked access in all 25 states with age verification laws. Louisiana is the exception — Pornhub remains accessible there via AllpassTrust/LA Wallet. In all other states, new users see a block message with no option to verify.
Is it legal to use a VPN to access Pornhub?
Yes. Age verification laws target websites, not users. No US state has criminalized VPN use to access legal adult content. Adults using a VPN to bypass a geo-restriction are not committing an offence. The VPN itself is a legal privacy tool.
Did the Supreme Court uphold age verification laws?
Yes. In Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton (June 27, 2025), the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Texas's age verification law (HB 1181) is constitutional. This triggered an acceleration — states that were waiting on the ruling moved quickly to pass their own laws.
What sites still work in blocked states?
Most cam sites (Chaturbate, Stripchat, CamSoda) and creator platforms (OnlyFans, Fansly) remain accessible in most states. The block primarily affects Aylo sites (Pornhub, RedTube, YouPorn, Tube8, Brazzers). Other tube sites like XNXX and XVideos are accessible in most states but may implement verification in some.
Why did Pornhub block access instead of complying?
Aylo's stated position: age verification as implemented is "ineffective, haphazard, and dangerous." Their data shows 80% traffic drops in states where they initially complied (Louisiana). Their preferred solution is device-level verification through operating systems — not site-by-site ID checks.
What happens if more states pass these laws?
10+ states have legislation pending for 2026, including Wisconsin which is near-passage. The SCOTUS ruling removed the constitutional barrier, so the trend is accelerating. California's Digital Age Assurance Act takes effect January 1, 2027 with device-level requirements.
