What's good

+ Thousands of adult manhwa and webtoons translated to English with daily updates. The library covers ongoing series with full chapter archives — genres from romance to action to explicit. For English-language adult manhwa readers, Toonily is one of the largest aggregators available

+ Android app on Google Play (by JoyRead Inc.) with cross-device sync for bookmarks and reading progress. Having an official app for a manhwa aggregator is unusual — most competitors are browser-only

+ 100% free with no accounts required to browse. Bookmarks and chapter tracking available without payment. The reading interface is clean when ads aren't interrupting it

+ VirusTotal 0/94 — the domain itself is clean from a malware perspective. Whatever the 56 trackers and 186 cookies are doing, the site infrastructure is not serving malicious code directly

What's bad

Blacklight scan: 56 trackers and 186 cookies. Plus fingerprinting. This is the worst privacy scan in the entire NSFWRanker project — across 120+ sites covering every category. The previous worst was F95Zone at 7 trackers and 18 cookies after correction. Toonily has eight times more trackers and ten times more cookies. Every page load on this site fires 56 separate tracking services and drops 186 cookies into your browser

Fingerprinting detected on top of the tracker and cookie load. Your browser is being uniquely identified by device configuration even if you clear cookies, even in incognito. Combined with 56 trackers building a behavioral profile across 186 cookie channels, the tracking infrastructure on this site is industrial-scale surveillance of reading behavior

Intrusive ads with pop-ups, redirects, and overlay ads. Users report that adblockers interfere with image loading — meaning the ad network is intertwined with the content delivery. You either accept the full ad and tracking payload or the manga pages don't load properly. Similar to HentaiHaven's adblock detection but worse because the interference isn't a deliberate block — it's architectural

Pirated content aggregator with a standard DMCA disclaimer. The manhwa is fan-translated without licensing agreements. The site claims it doesn't host copyrighted material directly and relies on user-submitted content. This is the same legal framework that every scanlation site uses. The content could be removed at any time via DMCA takedowns, and series availability depends on the scanlation community continuing to translate

Toonily review — 4.4/10, 56 trackers detected

I've scanned over 120 adult sites for this project. Pornhub has 2 trackers. XNXX has 0. Motherless, which I flagged for FBI CSAM cases and fingerprinting, has 1 tracker and 7 cookies. F95Zone, which I had to correct after Kevin's scan turned out to be wrong, has 7 trackers and 18 cookies plus session recording. That was the worst scan I'd documented.

Toonily has 56 trackers and 186 cookies. Plus fingerprinting.

I need to sit with those numbers for a second because they don't look real. Fifty-six separate tracking services firing on every page load. A hundred and eighty-six cookies dropping into your browser while you read a manhwa chapter. I went back to the Blacklight results to make sure the scan wasn't corrupted or aggregating across redirects. It wasn't. That's the actual count for toonily.com.

For context, the industry average for an adult site is about 7 trackers. The average across all the free tubes I've reviewed is under 2. Toonily has 56. It has more trackers than the next four worst sites in this project combined. And the 186 cookies sit on top of that like a surveillance layer that makes every other privacy concern I've documented in this project look quaint.

And then there's the fingerprinting. Browser fingerprinting means the site collects your device configuration — screen resolution, installed fonts, GPU renderer, timezone, language settings, canvas rendering patterns — and builds a unique identifier for your device. Even if you clear all 186 cookies. Even in incognito mode. Your browser fingerprint follows you across sessions. On a site where you're reading adult manhwa, that fingerprint is linked to your reading history and browsing patterns whether you consented to that tracking or not.

The ownership is invisible. No legal entity, no company name, no individual. Registrant is hidden behind Withheld for Privacy ehf in Iceland, registered through NameCheap. The Android app on Google Play lists "JoyRead Inc." as the developer but I couldn't find meaningful information about that entity either. Nobody is accountable for the 56 trackers and 186 cookies their site deploys, and nobody can be contacted about what that data is used for.

Now let me be fair about what Toonily actually does well, because the content side is genuinely competitive.

The library is massive. Thousands of adult manhwa and webtoons translated into English. Daily updates for ongoing series. Full chapter archives for completed ones. The genres span romance, action, fantasy, drama, and explicit content. For English-speaking readers who want adult Korean webtoons, Toonily is one of the two or three biggest aggregators available alongside sites like manhwa18.net and ManyToon. The content is real and the library depth is a genuine draw.

The Android app adds functionality that most manga aggregators don't have. Cross-device sync means your bookmarks and reading progress follow you between your phone and your browser. Chapter tracking, reading lists, genre search — the feature set is above what you'd expect from a pirated content aggregator. nhentai doesn't have an app. Hitomi doesn't have an app. Toonily does, and it works.

The content is pirated. Fan-translated manhwa without licensing agreements. The DMCA page exists and the site processes takedown requests, but the fundamental model is aggregating scanlation work without paying the original Korean creators or publishers. This is the standard model for the entire adult manhwa aggregation space — Toonily, ManyToon, manhwa18.net, they all operate the same way. Whether that matters to you is a personal decision, but it's worth knowing that the series you read could disappear if a publisher decides to enforce.

The ads are aggressive. Pop-ups, overlays, redirect ads. Multiple user reports mention that adblockers interfere with image loading — the chapter pages sometimes don't render properly when tracking is blocked. This is different from HentaiHaven's deliberate adblock detection wall. On Toonily it seems to be architectural — the content delivery and the ad network are intertwined enough that blocking one disrupts the other. The result is the same: you either accept the full 56-tracker, 186-cookie payload or you don't get clean image loading.

Traffic is about 27 million monthly visits per Semrush. US is the top country. The domain was registered in 2019 through NameCheap. VirusTotal 0/94 — clean. The domain is secure. The malware question isn't about the site infrastructure. It's about what 56 ad tracking services are doing with the behavioral data they collect from millions of readers' browsing patterns on an adult content site.

4.4/10. The content score is a 7 because the library is genuinely large and well-maintained. The features score is a 5 because the Android app and chapter tracking are real advantages. The privacy score is a 1 — the only 1 I've given in this project — because 56 trackers, 186 cookies, and fingerprinting on an adult content reading site is a level of surveillance that I can't contextualize as anything other than industrial-scale data collection. Every other privacy concern I've documented across 120+ reviews exists in the shadow of this scan. If you use Toonily, use it behind a VPN with a hardened browser profile that you don't use for anything else. And understand that 56 separate services are building a profile of what you read, when you read it, and how you read it.
